Attorney Stephen G. Thompson of Cincinnati; ethical leprechaun

The state of Ohio presented Stephen Gregory with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Cincinnati University Law School.

The Cincinnati Bar Association Grievance Committee found Stephen guilty of the following misconduct.

Stephen’s former partner asked Stephen to notarize a couple of documents, which he agreed to do. Stephen went ahead and notarized them even though they hadn’t been signed by a party whose name was stated on the documents. In other words, Stephen falsely stated under oath that the person signed the document in his presence when the person wasn’t there.

The Committee found Stephen’s false notarization to be conduct involving fraud, dishonesty and/or deceit. Because Attorney Misfits in Ohio are held to a much lower standard of conduct then every one else, Stephen was never criminally charged for his conduct.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Stephen by gifting him with a reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Stephen practices law with Wade, Thompson & Co. LPA at 455 Delta Avenue in Cincinnati, Ohio.
