Attorney George Gostias of Livonia, MI; thieving slacker

The state of Michigan presented George D. Gostias with a law license in 2010 after he graduated from the University of Detroit School of Law.

The Tri-County Hearing Panel #17 found George guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said George!)
  • Ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution to a client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to protect his client’s interests upon termination of a representation
  • Failed to surrender client papers and property upon being terminated
  • Failed to refund any advance fee that had not been earned (thief)
  • Violated or attempted to violate the Rules of Professional Conduct, knowingly assisted, or induced another to do so, or did so through the acts of another
  • Engaged in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Michigan Supreme Court punished George by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license, ordered him to pay $2,000 in restitution to a former client (victim), and assessed investigate costs of $1,680.44.

As we speak (ca. July 2022), George practices his so-called brand of law at 32437 5 Mile Road in Livonia, Michigan.
