Attorney Darren Veracruz of Santa Ana, CA; ethical gremlin

The state of California presented Darren Singh Veracruz with a law license in 2013 after he graduated from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.

The State Bar Court found Darren guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to inform client of significant developments in two employment matters
  • Engaged in multiple acts of wrongdoing
  • Provided legal advice to two employees of California Southern University regarding drafting of their U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission demand letters to California Southern University while he was still employed by California Southern University as its General Counsel
  • Continued representation of his client without the client’s written consent despite risks posed by his personal relationship with a third person in one matter and his legal advice to adverse parties in two other matters
  • Provided legal advice to Dr. Gwen Finestone-Hecht regarding D.D.’s severance package while being in an intimate relationship with D.D. without obtaining informed written consent from Dr. Finestone-Hecht and/or California Southern University
  • Made a settlement offer to R.L. on behalf of California Southern University, and willfully, and without authority, appeared as attorney for a party to an action or proceeding, namely, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity claim filed by R.L.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Darren by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year term of probation and assessed investigative costs of $3,693.00.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the State Bar Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Darren.

As we speak (ca. May 2023), Darren practices his so-called brand of law with Veracruz Law at 709 North Poinsettia Street in Santa Ana, California.
