Attorney Jonathan Brooks of Whitsett, NC; ethical gremlin

The state of North Carolina presented Jonathan Mark Brooks with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from Campbell University School of Law.

As one would suspect, this isn’t Johnny’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received one (1) complimentary admonition for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Johnny guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to protect client’s interest upon being terminated
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Delayed releasing client file to substitute counsel for well over 60 days
  • Fabricated an altered version of his letter to opposing counsel
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Misconduct involved a dishonest or selfish motive
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Refused to acknowledge wrongful nature of his conduct
  • The victim of Johnny’s misconduct was vulnerable

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Grievance Committee punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary three-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2022), Johnny practices his so-called brand of law at 6174 Thacker Dairy Road in Whitsett, North Carolina.
