Attorney James Goard of Mount Holly, NC; serial drunk

The state of North Carolina presented James MacHeron Goard with a law license in 1999 after he graduated from Campbell University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Jimmy’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• In 2009 Jimmy pled guilty to driving while impaired (DWI)
• In 2015 pled guilty driving while impaired (DWI) in Rowan County
• In 2016 Jimmy was charged with DWI reckless driving, driving while his license was revoked, and hit and run with property damage
• A 2016 blood test gave positive indications for benzodiazepines, opiates, cocaine metabolites, methadone and oxycodone/oxymorphone

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Grievance Committee punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

Jimmy’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
• Failed to keep client informed of status of matter
• Failed to comply with client information requests
• Lied to his client that he did not have liability insurance
• Misconduct involved multiple offenses
• Made misrepresentations to ethics investigators (Screw you, said Jimmy!)
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Misconduct involved dishonest or selfish motive

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Grievance Committee punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2022), Jimmy practices his so-called brand of law when sober at 136 Oakland Street in Mount Holly, North Carolina.
