Former Judge Jason Warner of Marion, OH; convicted felon

The state of Ohio presented Jason Daniel Warner with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from Ohio State University School of Law.

Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Jason guilty of engaging in the following misconduct while he was a sitting Marion County Common Pleas Judge in Marion, Ohio.

  • Failed to comply with the law (scofflaw)
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Found guilty of Complicity for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, a fourth-degree felony
  • Found guilty of Complicity for Tampering with Evidence, a third-degree felony
  • Julia was driving a Jeep Wrangler when she turned left onto County Road 106 without yielding to Mr. Colton’s vehicle
  • Julia struck the left front of Colton’s BMW, causing it to go off the road and strike a utility pole
  • The collision resulted in serious damage to Colton’s vehicle and trapped him, semiconscious, inside
  • After the collision, Jason and Julia walked around the crash site and looked into the BMW, and then drove away prior to the arrival of law enforcement
  • At the time Mr. Colton was trapped in his vehicle, bloody, and semi-conscious, and he to be removed from the car via the “jaws of life”

The trial judge sentenced Jason to serve 24 months in prison. It should be noted that Jason’s wife Julia was also found guilty of the same felonies.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Ohio Supreme Court punished Jason by gifting him with a complimentary indefinite suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2022), Jason spends his evenings enjoying the surroundings at the Toledo Correctional Institution in Toledo, Ohio.
