Attorney Charles J. Hausmann of Milwaukee; convicted felon The state of Wisconsin presented Charles J. Hausmann with a law license in 1971 after he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
The Office of Lawyer Regulation (OLR) found Gary guilty of the following misconduct.
Charles was convicted in federal court for conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud in connection with a “kickback scheme” involving a referral and billing arrangement with chiropractor Scott Rise, who was also prosecuted for the same offenses.
The OLR also found Charlie guilty of engaging in an egregious conflict of interest by representing a client when that representation was materially limited by Charlie’s own personal interests. Charlie concealed from his clients (victims) of his arrangement with Dr. Rise whereby the chiropractor returned a portion of the client’s medical fees to Charlie. The board went on to say that this criminal arrangement deprived Charlie’s clients of the “intangible right to honest services.”
As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits and Felons sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Charles by gifting him with a one-year suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. June 2012) Charles practices his brand of law with Hausmann McNally at 633 West Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee.
It must be quite comforting to Wisconsinites to know that there is yet another convicted felon practicing law in Wisconsin compliments of the comedians sitting on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
