Attorney Matheau Stout of Hunt Valley, MD; ethical gremlin

The state of Maryland presented Matheau Jay Weldon Stout with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Matty guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failing to safekeep funds in an attorney trust account
  • Failed to promptly remove earned fees from an attorney trust account
  • Knowingly failing to respond to Bar Counsel (Screw you, said Matty!)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to comply with attorney trust account record- keeping
  • Failed to perform monthly Trust account reconciliations
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Disbursed funds from an attorney trust account when the disbursement created a negative balance

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2022), Matty practices his so-called brand of law at 201 International Circle in Hunt Valley, Maryland.
