David Barton: Today’s “Degenerate Bullshitter” Award Winner

To scam conservate Christian voters for the upcoming November 2022 midterm elections, Davey continues with his habit of fabricating falsehoods. In this instance, Davey lies about Churches and voter turnout in the early 1800s. Towards that end, Davey spewed forth the following crap.

• “Churches ran the communities, and the voter turnout was 100 percent.” Barton said.
• “That was for at least 70 years.”
• “When Daniel Webster ran for Congress, there were 5,000 voters in his district.”
• “Five thousand votes were cast, now he got 4,990 so the other guy—it must have been him and his family was all that voted for him—but nonetheless, it was still 100 percent turnout.”
• “We felt like that was a duty we would answer to God for [so there] was really high, high turnout [because] churches ran it.”

Irrefutable evidence of Davey’s falsehood of 100% voter turnout is the results of the February 2, 1789, between James Madison and James Monroe wherein Madison received 1,308 votes to Monroe’s 972. Therefore, the total votes cast 2,280 out of 5,189 eligible voters. Put simply less than 39% of eligible voters cast a vote.

My trusty abacus tells me that 39% is just a tad lower than the 100% voter turnout that Davey the Degenerate Liar is telling the folks who attend his gatherings.
