Attorney Kris Williams of Whittier, NC; ethical gnome

The state of North Carolina presented Kris Vincent Williams with a law license in 2001 after he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Kris guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Entered into a business transaction with a client
• Solicited and accepted a $40,000 loan from a client
• Failed to advise his client in writing of the desirability of seeking independent legal counsel
• Failed to provide his client a reasonable opportunity to seek advice from another attorney about efficacy of loaning Kris $40,000
• Client was harmed from the transaction as the client had to retain other counsel and file a foreclosure action to recoup the $40,000 he loaned to Kris

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, Grievance Committee punished Freddy with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2022), Kris practices his so-called brand of law at 390 Crystal Creek Lane in Whittier, North Carolina.
