Attorney William J. Detweiler of Akron; ethical leprechaun 
The state of Ohio presented William J. Detweiler with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Case Western University Law School in Cleveland.
The Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline of the Ohio Supreme Court found William guilty of the following misconduct.
The Board’s findings were based on a complaint filed by the Akron Bar Association. The Board found that Bill was engaged in a sexual relationship with a client.
Bill’s client (victim) hired him to represent her in a divorce. While the divorce action was pending, Bill and his client expressed sexual feelings toward one another in person and by telephone and e-mail. Subsequently, they had a sexual encounter in the client’s car. Apparently Bill couldn’t afford to pay for a room at the local Big 6 Motel.
The sexual affair continued during Bill’s so-called representation of the client and only ended when she fired him. Gives a new meaning to getting screwed by a lawyer!
The Board noted that Bill’s conduct violated the prohibition against having a sexual relationship with a client due to the fact that it represents a clear conflict of interest and adversely reflects on the attorney’s fitness to practice law.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished William by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
As we speak (ca. May 2012) William practices with William J. Detweiler Co. LPA at PNC Center One Cascade Plaza in Akron, Ohio.
