Attorney J. Mark Edwards of Cottonwood Heights, UT; ethical troll

The State of Utah presented J. Mark Edwards with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme found Mark guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to terminate or decline representation when required to do so
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Mark!)
  • Wrote several checks on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Failed to keep and maintain complete accounting records of funds deposited into his attorney trust account
  • Failed to deposit client advance fees into a client trust account
  • Failed to respond to client information requests
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of matter

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. May 2022), Mark practices his so-called brand of law with J. Mark Edwards Attorney at Law at 2825 East Cottonwood Parkway in Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
