Attorney Mark Smith of Ontario, CAN; ethical goblin

The Law Society of Upper Canada presentedMark Wade Smith with a law license in 1984 after he graduated from the University of Ottawa School of Law.

The Hearing Committee for the Law Society of Ontario found Mark guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Accepted retainer funds and deposited them into his general account before completing the work for which he was retained
  • Attributed retainer funds to unrelated clients
  • Books and records were neither complete nor current
  • Mishandled the amount of $15,642 of trust funds
  • Failed to provide competent representation (imbecile)
  • Failed to account to his client JJD in a timely fashion
  • Failed to maintain his books and records on a current and accurate basis

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Hearing Committee punished Osborne by gifting her with a complimentary 2-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2022), Mark practices his so-called brand of law at 8800 Dufferin Street in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada.
