Attorney J. Brandon Graham of Charlotte, NC; convicted druggie

The state of North Carolina presented J. Brandon Graham with a law license in 2002 after he graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found JB guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Stopped by police for speeding and other minor traffic violations
  • During the police stop, officers asked JB whether he was doing, and whether he had drugs or drug paraphernalia in his vehicle
  • JB denied that he had any drugs or drug paraphernalia in his vehicle
  • During a search of JB’s vehicle, officers discovered that JB had a syringe loaded with narcotics in the passenger area of his car
  • Following a thorough search of JB’s care, additional drug paraphernalia was found including a white belt that was used as a tourniquet as well as 11 additional syringes, 6 of which contained a brownish color liquid and 3 of which contained a clear liquid
  • Officers tested contents of the syringe and it tested positive for both heroin and methamphetamine
  • JB was arrested and charged with felony possession of heroin, felony possession of methamphetamine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and several minor traffic violations
  • Subsequently, JB pled guilty to felony possession of methamphetamine
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on his fitness as a lawyer
  • Engaged in conduct involving misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Committee on Professional Conduct punished JB by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2022), JB practices his so-called brand of law at 7127 Brigmore Drive in Charlotte, North Carolina.
