Attorney Steven Bowers of Broken Bow, NE; ethical troll

The state of Nebraska presented Steven R. Bowers with a law license in 2008 after he graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Law.

The Disciplinary Counsel found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place during his employment as Custer County Attorney.

  • Failed to act with candor towards a tribunal (Up yours, said Stevie!)
  • Violated his oath of office as an attorney
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Agreed if defendants left Nebraska and failed to appear for sentencing hearings, he would direct that Custer County Sheriff not to seek to extradite the defendants
  • Stevie did not inform the court that he had agreed not to seek extradition of the defendants if they agreed to plead guilty or no contest to the pending charges

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Nebraska Supreme Court punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. March 2022), Stevie continues to practice his so-called brand of law the Custer County Attorney in Broken Arrow, Nebraska.
