Judge Jesus Alvarez of Rio Grand City, TX; ethical misfit

The state of Texas provided Jesus Maria Alvarez with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law.

The Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct found Jesus guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was a Justice of the Peace in Rio Grande City, Texas.  

• Lent the prestige of his judicial office to advance his private law practice through various marketing/advertising methods Improperly acted as a lawyer in proceedings in which he had served as a judge
• Violated the Code of Conduct by acting as a lawyer in cases wherein he served as a judge
• During his wife's campaign for public office, Jesus produced and erected signs advertising her campaign, discussed her candidacy with others at campaign events and elsewhere, and maintained a Facebook page on which materials supporting his wife's campaign appeared
• Jesus produced and erected signs/signage advertising his services as both a justice of the peace and as a private attorney

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Jesus by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2022), Jesus practices his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a Justice of the Peace in Rio Grand City, Texas. He supplements his judicial income by practice his brand of law with the Alvarez Law Firm at 501 North Britton Avenue in Rio Grande City, Texas.
