Judge Marie Cook of Chateauguay, NY; ethical gremlin

The State of New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Marie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communications with a party to matter pending before her
  • Entered an amended order of protection without notice to the DA or the defendant
  • Engaged in rank conflicts of interests by ruling on cases involving friends and/or relatives
  • As a favor to Clinton Town Justice Daniel LaClair, Marie allowed a defendant to plead guilty to a parking violation in satisfaction of a speeding charge
  • In the reduction speeding matter, Marie had the chutzpah to write on her docket “reduced in the interest of Justice Danny LaClair”

As a direct result of her misconduct, the Judicial Commission punished Marie by gifting her with a complimentary censure

As we speak (ca. April 2022), Marie continues to dispense his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a Justice of the Chateauguay Town Court, Franklin County, New York.
