Attorney David Goodwill of Murray, UT; ethical gremlin

The State of Utah presented David A. Goodwill with a law license in 1967 after he graduated from the University of Utah School of Law.

The Ethics and Discipline Committee of the Utah Supreme found Davey guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Failed to communicate with clients
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Tried to interfere in the disciplinary process to have victim of misconduct to withdraw her ethics complaint
  • One day after meeting with prospective clients, Davey asked the wife to loan him money
  • The wife gave Davey cash as a loan, but the husband was unaware of the loan
  • When the wife asked for the cash to be repaid to her, Davey told he did not have the money
  • Improperly communicated with a person Davey knew for a fact was represented by counsel
  • Used his trust account as a personal account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Utah Supreme Court punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2022), Davey practices his brand his so-called brand of law at 6047 South Liberty Oaks Cove in Murray, Utah.
