Former Judge Matthew Destry of Margate, FL; ethical goblin

The state of Florida presented Matthew Isaac Destry with a law license after he graduated from Stetson University Law School.

Former Gov. Charlie Crist was duped into appointing Billy as a Circuit Court judge in November 2007.  Billy didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the Broward County area. He received it because she had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission found Judge Fulford guilty of engaging in the following misconduct

• Failed to avoid the appearance of impropriety
• Failed to act in a manner promoting public confidence in the judiciary
• Failed to accord every person who has a legal interest in a proceeding to be heard according to law (aka, due process)
• Engaged in improper ex parte (one-sided) communications
• Improperly commented publicly on a matter pending in court

Rather than await a ruling from the Commission, Matty did what any coward would do, he resigned from the bench.
