Today’s Public Official Misfit is DelNorte County, CA Prosecutor Jon Alexander

The state of California presented Jon Michael Alexander with a law license in 1987 after he graduated from Western State University Law School.

In May 2012, the California State Bar Court filed disciplinary charges against Jon, a recovering methamphetamine addict. How sweet is that? Jon is accused of seven counts of misconduct, including that he took a loan from a defense attorney working on a case that he later dismissed, and then used the money for hair transplants. That’s even sweeter! Is this guy a certified Jerk or what?

The Bar Court has found Jon guilty of misconduct on several other occasions, some of which is as follows.
It is difficult to imagine how Jon was able to dupe the voters in Del Norte County into electing him as their County Prosecutor. Jon’s record of being disciplined by the State Bar Court for misconduct is as follows:

Jon’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2003

This was actually Jon’s 2nd bite at the Misfit Tree. His 1st bite came about after he was found guilty of driving with a suspended license. That misconduct resulted in the Bar Court punishing Jon by gifting him with a private reproval.

In this disciplinary case Jon was found guilty of the following misconduct:
  1. Unlawful practice of law while license suspended (felony)
  2. Failed to return unearned fees (crook)
  3. Refused to cooperate with the bar’s investigation
  4. Committed an act of moral turpitude
In one case, Jon represented a criminal defendant who learned from the DA the day before her scheduled arraignment that she would not be charged. Jon never communicated with the DA or police concerning the allegations. He then refused to return the client’s $4,500 advance fee even though he didn’t provide her with any legal services.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Jon by gifting him with a complimentary six-month suspension of his law license.

Jon’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree – 2011

In this matter, the Bar Court found Jon guilty of misconduct in three matters, which included the following.
  1. Failed to perform legal services competently (moron)
  2. Failed to respond to client status inquires
  3. Failed to return a client’s file
  4. Refused to refund unearned fees (crook)
  5. Engaged in improper ex parte communications with a judge
  6. Engaged in the unauthorized practice of law while he was suspended (felony)
At the time of this misconduct, Jon was an assistant Del Norte County DA.

As a consequence of 3rd bite at the Misfit Tree, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Jon by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. June 2012) Jon continues to sit as the District Attorney for Del Norte County.
