Attorney Mara A. Snyder of Bellingham, WA; ethical troll

The state of Washington provided Mara A. Snyder with a law license in 2011 after she graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law.

The Washington State Bar found Mara guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

More than 30 former clients and others filed ethics complaints against Mara, some of which are as follows.

Matthew Gustke

• Failed to file dissolution papers on behalf of Matthew Gustke as she promised to do
• A few weeks after receipt of $5,300 from Mr. Gustke, Mara stopped responding to his emails and phone calls
• Mara did not refund any of the $4,404.70 owing to Mr. Gustke

Leslie Quinell

• In late 2020, Leslie Quinell hired Mara in a dissolution matter, paying her advance fee of $10,000
• Mira only spoke with Mr. Quinell once after he paid her the $10,000 fee
• Mara has not refunded the $9,850.00 due and owing to Mr. Quinell when she abandoned her law practice

Tania Krumpak

• Tania paid Mara $6,500 to handle her pending dissolution matter
• Mara advised Tania of a meeting with an arbitrator and opposing counsel; however Mara did not appear for the meeting nor did she respond to Tania’s repeated emails
• Mara has not refunded the $3,807.35 due and owing to Tania when she abandoned her law practice

JC

• JC paid Mara $10,000 upfront regarding a relocation trial and preparation for that trial
• After abandoning her practice, Mara has not paid the $9,335.00 due and owing to JC

Elizabeth Crow

• Elizabeth paid Mara a $5,000 advance fee to prepare a legal separation and parenting plan
• Mara failed to return numerous calls or respond to emails from Ms. Crow
• After abandoning her practice, Mara has not paid the $4,189.70 due and owing to Ms. Crow

Kami Dodd

• Ms. Dodd paid Mara $5,000 advance fee to obtain a domestic violence order and parenting plan
• Mara repeatedly failed to respond to Ms. Dodd’s repeated emails
• After abandoning her practice, Mara has not paid the $4,850.00 due and owing to Ms. Dodd

Robert McKay

• Robert paid Mara a $5,000 fee in a dissolution matter from Tiffany McKay
• Several months later, Mara asked Robert to pay an additional $19,500 into trust for trial preparation, which he did via two credit car payments
• Mara failed to appear for scheduled mediation on Robert’s behalf, which left him to represent himself
• After abandoning her practice, Mara has not paid the $15,145.24 due and owing to Robert

Knowing she would likely be permanently disbarred; Mara took the cowards way out and submitted her resignation of her law license.

It is rumored that Mara has applied for a job as a Greeter at the Costco store located at 4125 Artic Avenue in Bellingham, Washington.
