Judge Scott Cupp Punta Gorda, FL; ethical gnome

The state of Florida provided Scott H. Cupp with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from the Western New England School of Law.

The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission found Judge Cupp guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Former Gov. Rick Scott was duped into appointing Scottie as a Collier County Circuit Court judge in 2018. Scottie didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Collier County area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

• Initiated unsolicited phone calls or personal contact with prominent and influential individuals in Hendry County during which he conveyed his support, and encouraged their support, for attorney Richard Sullivan in his election campaign for Hendry County Judge, against the incumbent, Judge Darrell Hill
• Despite being warned about his conduct aimed at supporting Sullivan by Administrative Judge James Adams, Scottie continued with said misconduct (Screw you Judge Adams, Scottie said!)
• Made improper loan of $9,500 to his own campaign prior to filing the required forms, designating a campaign account, and appointing a treasurer

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Scottie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2021), Scottie continues to mete out his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a County Judge for the 20th Judicial Circuit in Punta Gorda, Florida.
