Solicitor Nicholas Whelan of Scotland; ethical gnome

The Law Society presented Nicholas Whelan with a law license in 2000 after he graduated from the University of Glasgow School of Law.

The Scottish Solicitors’ Discipline Tribunal found Nicky guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in professional misconduct
  • Submitted an Accounts Certificate for the practice unit’s accounting period which failed to disclose breaches of the Law Society of Scotland Practice Rules 2011
  • Failed to timely cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Nicky!)
  • breaches of Rules B6.11, B6.7.3, B6.2.23, B6.13

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Discipline Tribunal punished Nicky by gifting him with a complimentary censure and imposed a fine of £2,000.

As we speak (ca. August 2021), Nicky practices his so-called brand of law at 105 High Street in Arbroath, Scotland.
