Today’s Public Official Misfit is Santa Clara Prosecutor Troy Alexander Benson

The state of California unfortunately presented Troy Alexander Benson with a law license in 1995 after he graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) Law School.

The State Bar Court has charged Troy with five counts of misconduct, which include suppressing evidence and attempting to cover it up by repeatedly lying while acting as an assistant Santa Clara County Prosecutor. (San Jose Mercury News)

Troy’s misconduct involved a 2006 child molestation case wherein he concealed the videotaped medical exam of the alleged victim. Troy then denied doing it, and then lied about it under oath (perjury) in open court.

Without the videotape, there were serious questions about whether the girl was sexually abused. The convicted perpetrator, Augustin Uribe was sentenced to 38 years to life. Uribe spent four years in prison and was branded as a child molester at a trial that relied on blurry photographs of the girl’s medical exam to show she had been abused.

Judge Andrea Bryan released Uribe from prison in 2010 after Troy’s despicable conduct was uncovered.

Troy is another lowlife prosecutor who is willing to ignore the law in order to put another notch on his conviction belt. Put simply, Troy has never been concerned about dispensing justice; his only concern is to dispense with it!

Because Attorney Misfits in Calfiornia are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Troy hasn’t been criminally charged with perjury, destruction of public records and/or obstruction of justice.

Hopefully the State Bar Court will recommend to the Supreme Court that Troy be permanently disbarred.
