Solicitor James Kitto of Tasmania; dimwitted slacker

The Law Society of Tasmania provided James Collingwood Kitto with a law license in 1999 after he graduated from the University of Tasmania School of Law.

The Legal Profession Board of Tasmania found Jimmy guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in professional misconduct
  • Failed to act with competence (dimwit)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to pay costs to a complainant on time as ordered by the Federal Circuit Court (Up yours, said Johnny!)
  • Incorrectly told his client to attend a hearing in Burnie, when the hearing was in Launceston
  • Failed to inform the court that his client would represent himself
  • When Johnny and his client failed to appear in court as scheduled, the judge ordered Johnny to personally pay $1,25000 in costs to the opposing party

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Johnny’s first bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He was previously disciplined on three (3) separate occasions for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Legal Profession Board punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary fine of $3,000.00.

As we speak (ca. August 2021), Johnny practices his so-called brand of law at 6 Cameron Street in Launceston, Tasmania.
