Barrister Stephen Sweeney of England; guilty of assault

The Law Society presented Stephen Joseph Sweeney with a Barristers license in 2001 after he graduated from the University of Bristol School of Law.

The Bar Standards Board found Stevie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Behaved in a way which was likely to diminish the trust and confidence which the public places in him or in the profession
  • Engaged in unprofessional conduct
  • Convicted of assaulting and beating a woman
  • Failed to surrender to custody at Stratford Magistrates’ Court after having been released on bail

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Barrister Misfits sitting on the Bar Standards Board punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2021), Stevie practices his brand of law with the Inner Temple at 15 New Bridge Street in London, United Kingdom.
