Attorney Luis Torrens of Miami Lakes, FL; slacker, serial offender

 

The state of Florida provided Luis Torrens with a law license in 2006 after he graduated from St. Thomas University School of Law.

 

The Florida State Bar found Louie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

 

Louie’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to provide any services on client’s behalf
  • Failed to advise client of farming out work to New Jersey attorney
  • Agreed to refund questionable fee to client in return for the client agreeing to not file ethics complaint

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Louie by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

 

Louie’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with client re: loan modification matter
  • Charged and/or collected unreasonable fee

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Louie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Louie’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • In real estate closing, Louie prepared document containing inaccuracies regarding the loan amount
  • Failed to withhold enough funds to pay three years of property taxes and failed to supervise a nonlawyer in the preparation of a quit claim deed

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Florida Supreme Court punished Louie by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.   

 

As we speak (ca. May 2021) Louie practices is so-called brand of law with the Torrens Law Firm PLLC at 8045 NW 155th Street in Miami Lakes, Florida.
