Attorney Roseller Viray of Philippines; ethical troll

The Philippine Supreme Court provided James Roseller A. Viray with a law license in 1988 after he graduated from the University of the Philippines School of Law.

The Committee on Bar Discipline found Roseller guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Roseller’s failure to perform his duty as a notary public resulted not only damage to those directly affected by the notarized document but also in undermining the integrity of a notary public and in degrading the function of notarization
  • Notarized a document when the person who actually signed the document was not the person whose name appeared on said document
  • Failed to properly discharge his duties

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Republic of the Philippines Supreme Court punished Roseller by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license, disqualified him from acting as a notary public for two years, and issued a warning that similar conduct in the future would be dealt with more severely.

As we speak (ca. June 2021), Roseller practices his brand of law in Asingan, Pangasinan, Philippines.
