Attorney Artemio San Juan of Philippines; ethical troll

The Philippine Supreme Court provided James Artemio V. San Juan with a law license in 1969 after he graduated from the University of the Philippines School of Law.

The Committee on Bar Discipline found Artemio guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to file a brief resulting in the dismissal of client’s appeal
  • Engaged in inexcusable negligence
  • Failed to execute all acts and procedures necessary and incidental to the perfection of his client’s appeal
  • Lacked candor in dealing with his client
  • Failed to inform client of the progress of his appeal
  • Failed to disclose to the client the real reason for dismissal of his appeal
  • Failed to file motion for reconsideration regarding dismissal of client’s appeal
  • Failed to resort to available legal remedies that might have protected his client’s interest

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Republic of the Philippines Supreme Court punished Artemio by gifting him with a complimentary 1-year suspension of his law license and a warning that similar conduct in the future would be dealt with more severely.

As we speak (ca. June 2021), Artemio practices his brand of law in Cebu City, Philippines.
