Former Judge Richard Sasso of Warren, NJ; ethical troll

The state of New Jersey presented Richard Michael Sasso with a law license after in 1980 after he graduated from Seton Hall University Law School.

The New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct found Dick guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which took place while he was sitting as a Judge of the Municipal Courts of Warren Township, Bridgewater Township, Bound Brook Borough and Watchung Borough.

  • Abused his contempt powers when he held Ms. Sears in contempt of court and immediately imposed a jail sentence on her with issuing a stay of the jail sentence for five days as required by the applicable Court Rules
  • Improperly imposed lesser fines on high school students charged with motor vehicle violations, referring to the lesser fines as the “Warrior Discount”
  • Abused his contempt powers when he held Ms. Brown in contempt of court without issuing the necessary order of contempt and certification, without affording Ms. Brown an immediate opportunity to respond (aka, due process), issuing a stay of the jail sentence for five days as required by the applicable Court Rules
  • Presided over court session in the Warren Muni Court while he was under the influence of prescription drugs and/or alcohol
  • Due to Dick’s impaired condition, he needed to be driven home from court at the end of the court session

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Dick by reprimanding him and permanently barred him from holding future judicial office.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Dick fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.sassolaw.com. Apparently, he chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting his future victim pool.

As we speak (ca. April 2022), Dick practices his so-called brand of law with Sasso Law at 31 West Mountain Blvd in Warren, New Jersey.
