Judge Lisa Rana of East Hampton, NY; repeat offender

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Lisa guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Lisa’s 1^st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

In one matter, Lisa personally prepared and approved radio advertisement for her judicial candidacy that misrepresented facts [lied] about her opponent’s reasons for seeking judicial office

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct Committee punished Lisa by gifting her with a complimentary caution. 

Lisa’s 2^nd bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

• Engaged in prohibited political activity
• Improperly offered advice and edited campaign materials for candidate running for town office
• Assisted David Gruber, candidate for East Hampton Town Supervisor with writing letters to the editor that he intended to submit to local newspapers
• Provided substantive edits on political topics as well as stylistic suggestions on Gruber’s behalf
• Emailed Gruber with additional substantive and strategic advice regarding his campaign

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct Committee punished Lisa by gifting her with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. July 2021), Lisa continues to practice her so-called brand of jurisprudence as a East Hampton Town Court Justice of the Peace in East Hampton, New York.
