Solicitor Patrick Gillespie of Ireland; ethical leprechaun 

 

The Law Society of Ireland provided Patrick Gillespie with a solicitor’s license in 2002 after he graduated from graduated from Queen’s University School of Law in Belfast.

 

The Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal found Patty guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to comply with his undertaking
  • Failed to register client’s charge over certain property
  • Paid the proceeds of the sale of directly to his clients in breach of his undertaking regarding sale of six dwelling houses on various sites
  • Failed to correspond with the bank, in particular with several of the bank’s letters of enquiry
  • Failed to correspond with his client on behalf of the bank
  • Failed to respond to the letters from his client

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Solicitor Misfits sitting on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal punished Patty by gifting him with a complimentary censure and a fine of €15,000.00.

 

As we speak (ca. May 2021), Patty practices his brand of law with P. Gillespie and Company at Bury Street in Ballina, Ireland.
