Attorney Felipe Garcia Jr. of Edinburg, TX; ethical gnome

The state of Texas presented Felipe Garcia Jr. with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Texas Southern University School of Law.

FYI: Texas Southern is ranked as the 181st best law school in the country out of 200 ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools.

The 93rd District Court of Hidalgo County found Felipe guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide client with written contingent fee agreement
  • Failed to state method by which his fee was to be determined
  • Commingled client/third party fund with his personal funds
  • Failed upon receiving funds or other property in which a client or third person has an interest, to promptly notify his client or third person
  • Failed to render a full accounting upon client request

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Felipe by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court did not mete out any meaningful punishment to Felipe.

As speak (ca. February 2021), Felipe practices his brand of law with the Law Office of Felipe Garcia Jr. at 201 East University Drive in Edinburg, Texas.
