Attorney Jay Rothman of Woodland Hills, CA; ethical ogre, repeat offender

The state of California presented Jay Stuart Rothman with a law license in 1971 after he graduated from Southwestern University School of Law.

FYI: Southwestern is ranked as the 167th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The State Bar Court found Jay guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Failed to maintain a client’s confidence
• Client hired Jay to pursue sexual harassment and wrongful termination matter
• Client dismissed him and wrote negative review on Yelp page
• Jay replied to negative Yelp review by identify his client as “the client from hell” and described a number of facts in the case that the client had not divulged

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Jay by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Jay’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary reproval and a complimentary term of probation for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

And lastly, as one would suspect, Jay fails to disclose the misconduct set forth above on his self-serving website at www.jaysrothmanlawoffice.com. Apparently, he decided to conceal said relevant facts from prospective clients to prevent limiting his future victim pool.
