Judge Lonnie Cox of Galveston, TX; ethical ogre

The state of Texas provided Lonnie Cox with a law license in 1993 after he graduated from the University of Houston School of Law.

The State Commission on Judicial Conduct found Lonnie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

FYI: Lonnie has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the past twenty-five (25) years. Apparently, no self-respecting law firm in the greater Galveston area was about to offer him a good paying job.

  • Improperly attended a political fund-raising event for the election of Galveston County Tax Assessor-Collector Cheryl E. Johnson
  • During his introduction, Judge Cox expressed his support for Ms. Johnson’s candidacy and exhorted those in attendance to vote for her
  • A video recording of Judge Cox’s remarks was streamed live on Facebook by a member of Ms. Johnson’s campaign staff
  • Improperly lent the prestige of his judicial office to advance the private interests of himself and/or others
  • Improperly authorizes the public use of his name endorsing another candidate for public office

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Conduct Commission punished Mark by gifting him with a complimentary warning.

As we speak (ca. January 2021), Lonnie continues to practice his so-called brand of jurisprudence as a 56th Judicial District Court Judge in Galveston, Texas.
