Attorney John Shane of Olean, NY; serial liar

The state of New York provided John Michael Shane with a law license in 1959 after he graduated from Georgetown University School of Law.

The Appellate Division of State Supreme Court based in Rochester found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

• Lied to client he had filed a lawsuit on his behalf in 1986
• Knowingly and intentionally deceived his client on the filing of a lawsuit on his behalf for more than 25 years
• Provided his client with a phony court order and notice of appeal
• From 1986 through 2012, Johnny on numerous occasions told his client he was pursuing his legal matter
• Offered his client various false reasons for the substantial delay in concluding his legal matter
• Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
• Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Appellate Division Disciplinary Committee punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. January 2021), Johnny practices his brand of law at 757 East Street in Olean, New York.
