Attorney Spencer May of British Columbia; ethical troll
The Law Society of British Columbia presented Spencer Owen May with a law license in 2007 after he graduated from the University of British Columbia School of Law.
The British Columbia Law Society Disciplinary Counsel has alleged that Spence engaged in the following misconduct.
-
Failed to act honorably and with integrity, or acted contrary to his obligations to a court
-
Misled the court by stating that the defendants appear to have left the country or disappeared, when you knew that one of your clients possibly knew the whereabouts of, had contacted, or had the means of contacting one of the defendants
-
Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Spence!)
-
Misled the court by failing to disclose material information concerning the whereabouts of, contact with, or means of contacting one of the defendants, including evidence that one of the defendants had purportedly signed and provided documents in relation to the proceeding in or about November 2016
-
Filed or relied upon the affidavit of his paralegal, AC, when he knew or ought to have known that the affidavit was false or misleading in relation to a purported contract document
-
Engaged in professional misconduct
-
Failed to make reasonable inquiries about your clients or the subject matter and objectives of his retainer
-
Failed to make a record of inquiries made
-
Provided incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information in one or more letters to ethics investigators (Up yours, said Spence!)
As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Law Society punished Sumit by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
And lastly, as one would suspect, Spence and his firm fails to mention the alleged misconduct set forth above on their self-serving website at www.richmondbclawyers.com. Apparently, Spence and the firm chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting their future victim pool.
As we speak (ca. January 2021), Spence practices as a partner with Campbell Froh May & Rice LLP at 5611 Cooney Road in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
