Attorney W. Fredrick Zimmerman of Kansas City, KS; serial offender, Dufus

The state of Kansas presented W. Fredrick Zimmerman with a law license in 1975.
The Kansas Disciplinary Administrator found Zimmerman guilty of the following misconduct:
  1. Failing to provide competent legal services (moron)
  2. Failing to act diligently in representing clients (slacker)
  3. Failing to respond to client inquiries
  4. Charging a clearly excessive fee (cheater)
While representing a client in a personal injury case against General Motors (GM), Zimmerman’s gross incompetence led to the client’s case being dismissed by the court, a dismissal that he concealed from his client. When the client finally found out about the dismissal, she asked that he appeal the dismissal, which he did but only after the statutory time to do so had passed. As a result of his continued incompetence, the client’s appeal was also dismissed.
Several months passed and the client discovered from the Court of Appeal that the case had been dismissed, a fact Zimmerman concealed from his client.
Zimmerman then provided contact information to the client regarding his malpractice insurer as a result of his gross negligence and incompetence. As expected, Zimmerman lied to the client because he hadn’t paid the premium to the insurer.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Kansas Supreme Court punished Zimmerman by gifting him with a one-year suspension of his law license.
As we speak (ca. May 2012) Fred practices law at 750 Ann Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri.
