Attorney Cecilia Guzman of Totowa, NJ; thieving slacker

The state of New Jersey presented Cecilia Sardifia Guzman with a law license in 2002 after she graduated from Rutgers University School of Law. 

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Cecelia guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

• Engaged in gross neglect of client matters
• Failed to abide by the client’s decision concerning the scope and objectives of the representation
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to communicate with his client
• Failed to comply with mandatory recordkeeping provisions
• Failed to maintain legal malpractices insurance
• Failed to properly supervise office staff
• Upon being terminated, failed to refund unearned fee (thief)
• Commingled client funds with personal funds
• After being terminated, failed to withdraw from the representation
• Failed to make reasonable efforts to ensure that the conduct of the employee is compatible with the professional obligations of the lawyer

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Cecilia by gifting her with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. January 2021), Cecilia practices her brand of law with Guzman & Guzman LLC at 547 Union Blvd in Totowa, New Jersey.
