Judge John Gastelum of Santa Ana, CA; incompetent boob

The state of California presented John C. Gastelum with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law.

In one matter, Johnny was assigned to preside over a case involving the matter of a former employee’s use of his general knowledge in the securities field after leaving the company he worked for TGS Management Company (TGS).

In his infinite ignorance, Judge Gastelum ruled in favor of TGS in confirming an arbitration award against Mr. Brown for more than $2.6 million in attorney fees and costs and ordered that he repay a 2014 bonus he received from TGS in the amount of $652,243,35.

Subsequently, Mr. Brown appealed Judge Gastelum’s asinine argument to the local Court of Appeal. In reversing Judge Gastelum, the Court stated as follows.

• “Except as provided in this chapter, every contract by which anyone is restrained from engaging in a lawful profession, trade or business of any kind is to that extent void.”
• “[W]e conclude the confidentiality provisions in the Employment Agreement on their face patently violate section 16600.6 Collectively, these overly restrictive provisions operate as a de facto noncompete provision; they plainly bar Brown in perpetuity from doing any work in the securities field, much less in his chosen profession of statistical arbitrage. Consequently, we conclude the confidentiality provisions are void ab initio and unenforceable.”

Of course, Johnny the Incompetent Moron doesn’t much give a damn how many times his asinine rulings are overturned by the Court of Appeal because he knows that no California judge has ever been removed from office for being a Moron. Additionally, Johnny has absolutely no concern for how much taxpayer money is wasted as a direct result of her gross incompetence.
