Attorney Jeffrey Dalrymple of Matthews, NC; ethical ogre

 

The state of North Carolina presented Jeffrey G. Dalrymple with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

 

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Jeff guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to properly supervise office staff
  • Failed to take reasonable steps to ensure his non-attorney assistants acted in accordance with his professional obligations
  • Failed to properly supervise handling of entrusted funds
  • Failed to perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations of client trust account
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to provide annual accountings of the receipts and disbursements of all trust funds to clients for whom he retained entrusted funds for over one year
  • Failed to provide accountings of the receipts and disbursements of all trust funds to clients upon the complete disbursement of the trust funds
  • Failed to promptly disburse entrusted funds
  • Failed to review his bank statements and cancelled checks monthly
  • Failed to negotiate with the creditors of his law clients, even when the debts of those clients were the subjects of litigation
  • Consistently failed to provide accountings of the receipts and disbursements of all trust funds to clients upon the
  • complete disbursement of the trust funds
  • Failed to identify the clients from whose balance in the bust account funds were being disbursed on checks drawn
  • from his bust account
  • Consistently failed to review his bank statements and cancelled checks monthly
  • Consistently failed to conduct transaction reviews quarterly or sign the same

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Jeff by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

 

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Jeff practices at 2435 Plantation Center Drive in Matthews, North Carolina.
