Attorney Michael Crowe of Winston Salem, NC; ethical troll

The state of North Carolina presented Michael Paul Crowe with a law license in 2011 after he graduated from North Carolina Central University School of Law.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Mikey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Directed an assistant to execute a false notary
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty, or misrepresentation
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Knowingly filed a document in the Register of Deeds that bore a false notary
  • Engaged in a pattern of misconduct
  • Made an assertion in a legal proceeding for which there was no basis in law
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Knowingly disobeyed an obligation under the rules of a tribunal
  • Intentionally violated establish rules of procedure
  • Victim of misconduct was vulnerable
  • Issued what appeared to be valid and enforceable subpoenas and causing them to be served on State's witnesses by the sheriff, thereby creating the false impression that the witnesses were legally obligated to appear at his office and be deposed
  • Used methods of obtaining evidence that violated the rights of third persons
  • By requesting that the notary falsely notarize the Power of Attorney, failed to make reasonable efforts to ensure that the conduct of a non-lawyer assistant was compatible with his professional obligations

As a direct consequence of his misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Mikey by gifting him with a complimentary 3-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Mikey practices at 2230 Independence Road in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
