Attorney Melissa Gott of Wilmington, NC; ethical goblin

The state of North Carolina presented Thomas Goolsby with a law license in 2003 after she graduated from Campbell University School of Law.

FYI: Campbell University School of Law is ranked as the 166th best law school in the country out of 200 ABA (American Bar Association) accredited law schools.

The Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar found Melissa guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to ensure she had collected and disbursed closing funds in accordance with the lender’s instructions despite repeated communications from the mortgage broker and lender alerting her to an issue and asking her to confirm numbers before disbursing
  • Violated several rules relating to accounting of funds

As a direct consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Grievance Committee of the North Carolina State Bar punished Melissa by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. September 2020), Melissa practices with The Law Group at 611 Princess Street in Wilmington, North Carolina.
