Judge George Southworth of Caldwell, ID; incompetent boob  

The state of Idaho presented George Allen Southworth with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from the University of Idaho School of Law.

In one matter, Judge Southworth presided over a case involving Nampa Highway District No. 1 (NHD) v. Brian and Lisa Knight, Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems In. and Quicken Loans Inc. that involved quiet title to a Registration Systems, Inc., and Quicken Loans Inc. (collectively, Appellants) to quiet title to a thirty-three-foot-wide strip of land constituting the south half of West Orchard Avenue in Canyon County.

NHD asked George to grant summary judgment in its favor because Appellants and their predecessors in interest were not bona fide purchasers of the land, and therefore, its deed was not void as against Appellants. Appellants asked the district court to grant summary judgment in their favor because they acquired the status of bona fide purchasers under what is known as the “shelter rule” since their predecessors in interest were bona fide purchasers.

Subsequently, in a display of his infinite ignorance and incompetence, Judge Southworth granted summary judgment in favor of NHD, declaring NHD holds title to the thirty-three-foot-wide strip of land in fee simple.

Shortly thereafter, filed an appeal of George’s asinine rulings to the Idaho Supreme Court, which reversed the rulings and in doing so made the following statements.

• “The district court found that this language did not serve to limit or restrict the land to an easement; however, that is precisely what the language does.”
• “The district court erred in declaring NHD owns the right-of-way in fee simple.”
• “The judgment of the district court granting summary judgment is reversed, its declaration as to the status of the right-of-way is vacated, and the case is remanded.”

It goes without saying that George doesn’t much give a damn when he’s overturned (rebuked in truth) by the appellate court since he is well aware that no Idaho  judge has ever been tossed off the bench for being an incompetent boob. In addition, she isn’t concerned with the cost to the taxpayers of having his asinine ruling overturned.
