Attorney Matthew Sowa of Salem, OR; slacker, loser

The state of Oregon provided Matthew L. Sowa with a law license in 2003 after he graduated from the University of Oregon School of Law.

The Oregon State Bar Association found Matty guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Refused to acknowledge wrongful nature of conduct
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses
  • Failed to respond to client information inquiries
  • Failed to explain that he was no longer working on client’s matter
  • Prevented his client from making informed decisions about the representation
  • Client made at least ten unsuccessful attempts to communicate with Matty

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Oregon Supreme punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary 60-day suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. July 2020), Matty practices at 456 State Street in Salem, Oregon.
