Attorney Bethany Brands of Spirit Lake, IA; slacker, repeater

The state of Iowa provided Bethany J. Verhoff Brands with a law license in 1994 after she graduated from the University of Iowa School of Law.

The Iowa Supreme Court Disciplinary Counsel found Beth guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

Beth’s 1^st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to perform required monthly audits of office trust account
• Failed to maintain all client funds in client trust account
• Failed to maintain adequate and current records of client trust accounts

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Beth by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.  

Beth’s 2^nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Failed to timely cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Beth!)
• Failed to keep promise of pursuing appeal on behalf of her clients

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Beth by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.  

And lastly, as one would suspect, Beth fails to mention the misconduct set forth above on her self-serving website at www.brandslawoffice.com. Apparently, she chose to conceal this relevant information from prospective clients for the purpose of not limiting her future victim pool.
