Attorney Matthew Cohen of Hackensack, NJ; ethical troll

The state of New Jersey presented Matthew I. Cohen with a law license in 1967 after he graduated from New York University School of Law.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Matty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to withdraw representation when required to do so
  • Engaged in the illegal practice of law while license suspended
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Matty!)
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. August 2020), Matty practices in Hackensack, New Jersey.
