Attorney Maxwell Colby of Oakhurst, NJ; serial offender

The state of New Jersey presented Maxwell X. Colby with a law license in 1975 after he graduated from Rutgers University School of Law. Max also received a law license to practice in New York in 1984.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Max guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Screw you, said Max!)
  • Engaged in the illegal practice of law while license suspended

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Max’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received one complimentary reprimand and two complimentary suspensions of his law license for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Max by gifting him with a complimentary 2-year suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2021), Max practices in Oakhurst, New Jersey.
