Attorney Matthew Woitkowski of Staten Island, NY; ethical ogre

The state of New Jersey presented Matthew W. Woitkowski with a law license in 1996 after he graduated from St. John’s University School of Law. Matty was also provided with a law license from the state of New York in 1996.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Matty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Negligent misappropriation (theft) of client funds
  • Failed to abide by recordkeeping requirements
  • Failed to maintain sufficient funds in his office trust account
  • Engaged in a conflict of interest respondent by permitting his real estate clients to utilize the title company that he owned for their title abstract and title insurance needs
  • Failed to sufficiently disclose his personal interest in the title company to his New York law clients

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Matty by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. July 2020) Matty practices with Law Offices of Matthew W. Woitkowski 1562 Richmond Road in Staten Island, New York.
