James Smith of Decatur, AL; cheating loser

The state of Alabama presented James McCauley Smith with a law license in 1993 after she graduated from the Samford University School of Law.

FYI: Samford University is ranked as the 176th best law school in the country out of 202 ABA accredited schools.

The Alabama State Bar Association found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Charged and/or collected an unreasonable fee (cheater)
  • Engaged in conduct that adversely reflects on his fitness to practice law
  • Failed to prepare irrevocable family trust on client’s behalf for at least five (5) years after the client had died and despite her will stating that Jimmy was to prepare said family trust
  • Even though the widow had died, and the trust was no longer necessary, Jimmy continued to collect rent, pay bills and pay himself without any oversight for over a year until he signed over the trust
  • Improperly charges the trust an hourly fee rather than the 2.5% in and the 2.5% out as outlined in the settlement agreement
  • As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. June 2020), Jimmy practices at 225 Grant Street SE in Decatur, Alabama.
